About Me
My all-time favorite class in college was Child Development. After each lecture, my roommate patiently listened as I shared the highlights of what I had learned. Kids are fascinating creatures, and I find it astonishing the rate at which they acquire new abilities.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology, I began working in hospital administration in Charleston, SC. It was in this medical setting that I discovered the profound impact of speech pathology, and I went back to school to earn a graduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Georgia. During my graduate work in elementary schools, I absolutely loved working with children and never looked back!
It’s hard to believe that I’ve been in this field for over 20 years! I continue to learn from the latest research and how it impacts the different approaches I use in therapy. Before going into private practice, I spent most of my time working for Maryville City Schools and feel honored to have worked on some of the best teams of educators, service providers, and administrators.
Now, I strive to help families as a private practitioner. Many times, I partner with the school speech therapist during the school year and then in the summer, continuing services so the student still progresses. I value the relationships I have with each family and truly love what I do.
When not prepping for therapy sessions, I like nothing more than spending time outside with my husband and our teenage son and daughter. We moved to Tennessee from coastal South Carolina where we enjoyed the beach, but now we love exploring the Great Smoky Mountains and seeing an occasional bear!
